Nigerian Maritime Press Unites in Honour of Customs Comptroller General

On Thursday, February 13, 2025, all maritime press associations in Nigeria will converge at the Lagos Airport Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos, by 6 p.m. to celebrate the Comptroller General (CG) of the Nigeria Customs Service for his exceptional contributions to the maritime industry.

 

This event, the first of its kind in Nigeria’s maritime media landscape, is a celebration of and recognition of Adeniyi’s leadership and impact on the Nigeria Customs Service.

 

The decision to bestow the ICONIC MARITIME PERSONALITY OF THE YEAR 2024 award on the Customs CG was a collective one, endorsed by all maritime press association.

 

Initially slated for January 16 but postponed due to unforeseen circumstances, the event remains a testament to the media’s recognition of excellence in the Maritime industry.

 

As journalists deeply immersed in maritime affairs, Adeniyi’s tenure shines in excellence demonstrated in a transformed Service marked by record-breaking revenue collection, intensified anti-smuggling operations, enhanced trade facilitation, improved national security measures, prioritized staff welfare, and strengthened inter-agency collaboration.

 

His commitment to modernizing the Service through the indigenous development of technological infrastructure to enhance trade while encouraging Area Commands to forge alliances and render corporate social responsibility to host communities are a testament to his readiness to foster harmonious working relationship with communities while improving their lived experiences.

 

Beyond his administrative successes, Adeniyi has shown unwavering support for the maritime media, fostering transparency and engagement—an aspect the industry’s journalists hold in high regard.
