MARAN Congratulates Okaga on Appointment as Technical Adviser to Marine, Blue Economy Minister

The Maritime Reporters Association of Nigeria (MARAN) has congratulated Mr. Charles Okaga on his appointment as Technical Adviser to the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Mr. Adegboyega Oyetola, stating that it is a strategic move poised to enhance the nation’s maritime sector.
Prior to his appointment, Dr. Okaga’s tenure as the General Manager, Operations, at the Nigerian Ports Authority, were marked by significant contributions to the maritime export sub-sectors which led to improved cargo operations and increased efficiency.
As Port Manager, Lagos Port Complex, Apapa, the port experienced a 40 per cent increase in export with the processing of approximately 70,000 Twenty-Foot Equivalent Units (TEUs) of exports in 2023, up from 50,000 TEUs the previous year.
MARAN, in a statement, expressed confidence in Okaga’s new role, sharing optimism that he will advise on policies and actionable plans which will culminate in measurable gains for Nigeria’s maritime industry.
“Your appointment of as the Technical Adviser to the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, is quite commendable and MARAN congratulates you.
“We are confident that your appointment will bring policies that will aid the country’s competitiveness in the global maritime scene and boost the revenue contribution of the maritime industry to the nation’s economy, in line with President Tinubu’s Economic Agenda,” part of the statement read.
