A new era has begun at the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) Kebbi Area Command, as Comptroller Chidi Chukwumeziri Nwokorie assumes leadership following the retirement of Comptroller Iheanacho Ernest Ojike.

At a formal handover ceremony held at the Command’s conference room on Thursday, February 6, 2025, Comptroller Nwokorie wasted no time in outlining his vision for the Command. Addressing officers and stakeholders, he emphasized professionalism, discipline, and a strict adherence to the core mandates of the Service.

He urged his officers to remain steadfast in their responsibilities across their Areas of Responsibility (AOR), ensuring efficient border management, revenue collection, and anti-smuggling operations.

Acknowledging the contributions of his predecessor, Nwokorie commended Ojike’s leadership and the strategic policies that shaped the Command under his tenure. He pledged to consolidate on the gains made, ensuring a seamless transition and continuity of operations.

“I will not derail from the policies and achievements already in place. Rather, I will build on them to further enhance the Command’s effectiveness,” he assured.

In his farewell remarks, the outgoing Comptroller Ojike expressed gratitude to his officers, sister agencies, the Kebbi State Government, and various stakeholders for their unwavering support throughout his tenure.

He urged them to extend the same cooperation to his successor, stressing that a collaborative approach remains crucial for the Command’s success.

The handing-over ceremony was attended by top Customs officers, government officials, and stakeholders who lauded Ojike’s service and expressed optimism about Nwokorie’s leadership.
