Apapa Customs Surpass Year-to-Date Target by Eight Per Cent

Apapa Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has announced amidst dwindling trade volumes that it surpassed it’s Year-to-Date target for the first quarter of 2024.

 

The target revenue as allocated to the Command by the NCS headquarters is pegged at four hundred and fifty billion naira only (N450,000,000,000.00) for January to March 2024.

 

A statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, CSC Abubakar Usman, noted that the Command collected a total of four hundred and eighty nine billion, six hundred and fourteen million, ninety five thousand, twenty two naira and fifteen kobo (N489,614,095,022.15) for the period under review.

 

With the collected figure eight per cent above the expected target, speculations are rife that the command may meet and surpass it’s 2024 target of one trillion, eight hundred billion naira (N1,800,000,000,000.00).

 

According to the statement, the Customs Area Controller (CAC), Apapa Customs Command, Comptroller Babajide Jaiyeoba, expressed optimism that the command will perform even better in the second quater.

 

Jaiyeoba also promised to continue engaging stakeholders of the Command to make honest declarations to enable them attain the Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) status.

 

“I will continue my weekly engagement of stakeholders at various levels to sustain the tempo of our achievements and consolidate on the gains from regular enlightenment of every member of the port community

 

“Making honest declaration puts the declarant at a vantage position to have a credible reputation and enjoy the benefits that come with earned integrity such as fast track and possible migration to the Authorised Economic Operator (AEO).”

 

 

This, he said, will culminate in a “smoother” and more “efficient” port system for the nation.
