The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has officially launched its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Unit as part of commitment to contribute to national development.
This CSR initiative named, “Customs Cares,” aims to support sustainable growth and improve the well-being of communities across the country.
The establishment of the CSR Unit signals a broader approach to the NCS’s role in society, extending beyond its traditional duties of trade facilitation, revenue generation, and border security.
According to a statement by the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, signed by the National Public Relations Officer, AC Abdullahi Maiwada, “The Customs Cares” initiative will focus on various programs, including school renovations, mobile clinics, food and medical aid, agricultural support, skills development, and youth empowerment.
“These efforts align with the nation’s development priorities and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).”
As part of the initiative, the NCS plans to collaborate with government agencies, NGOs, private sector partners, and local communities to maximize its impact.
“This collaboration is seen as key to the success of the project, which will be rolled out nationwide as a long-term commitment to community development.
“The program is aligned with the Presidential Priority Areas and will complement President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda.
“The NCS aims to not only enhance public trust but also strengthen its role in nation-building through active community engagement and staff participation.
“NCS is calling on its officers, stakeholders, and the general public to support the “Customs Cares” initiative, which is designed to create sustainable solutions that uplift communities.”
With this initiative, the NCS hopes to make a significant contribution to improving livelihoods and fostering lasting positive change across Nigeria. The NCS will continue to collaborate with relevant partners to ensure the program’s success.
