The President, National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF), Mr. Tochukwu Ezisi, has commended the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) for training freight forwarders in Lagos.

Ezisi, who spoke at the closing ceremony of the week long training on emerging trends in customs clearance processes, expressed his gratitude to the NCS for the executive training of NAGAFF members and other sister associations.

Noting that the training was long overdue, Ezisi expressed confidence in the leadership of the NCS saying that the gesture speaks of the berth of the renewed hope mantra of Mr. President on freight forwarding practice.

He said: “I can’t remember when last freight forwarders got this kind of training from the NCS. The current CGC has renewed freight forwarders’ hope in the ability of Customs to act with a sense of social responsibility.

“The event, which was very informative, educative and interactive, give freight forwarders opportunity to discuss and address operational challenges with key players in the NCS.

“Some of the topics discussed include;  new cargo clearance procedures, cargo inspection, fast track, the new CEMA Act amongst others.

“The training gave deep insight into customs dispute resolution mechanisms and export processes. It also addressed reasons for delays in the operations of terminal operators and shipping companies which leads to demurrage.”

On his part, Deputy Comptroller General, AG Saidu, appreciated the Comptroller General of Customs, Comptroller Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR, for giving the Service the guidance to organise the workshop. He also thanked freight forwarders for showing up for the event.
